What a seriously crazy night

Ok, so my blog is still looking pretty crappy. I cant get the sizing and spacing right and Im too tired tonight to look at html code. Im sitting here on the couch hovering over Emma. For those of you who havent heard heres the story:

Emma and her cousin Jordan and Jace were at the school playing this evening. Jace came home to eat. As we were sitting down we heard the front door open and someone trip on the gate and then we hear Emma screaming that she had broken her arm. We jump up, Jace made it in there first and when he turned around we knew something was wrong....his little face was white as a ghost. Brad got to Emma and immediately said that we needed to take her to the ER. We were scrambling to get shoes and keys found. I was a *little* freaked out. Just looking at her arm we all knew it was pretty bad, being that your lower arm is supposed to be straight...not shaped like a U. Brad refused to let me drive...like I said a *little* freaked.

We get to the hospital, they get her checked in and off to xray. And all this time she hasnt made a peep. Not one tear shed. When the bring her back they decide to start an IV so that they can give her some pain meds. She wanted me to be there with her and Brad was in the other room looking at the xrays. So i stayed and watched. Once again, not even a flinch when they did that. Me on the other hand had to leave the room when Brad got in there. If I would have stayed I would have ended up on the floor. Yikes! Brad took me in to see the films and they were ugly. Both bones in her left forearm are snapped and at an angle. Thank God they arent displaced and poking out of her skin...I would have never made it.

They decide to splint it and wait for the doc to call back. He had just left to go out of town for the weekend, too bad for us. Brad had texted him earlier and he ended up calling right when he landed. Turns out that she will be just fine until he gets back, unless she is in too much pain and in that case we will have to go somewhere to get it reduced and casted. It pays to have a best friend thats an orthopedic surgeon. Anyway, so as it stands now, they will be fixing it on Monday morning, and I have no idea what that even means except that they knock her out and put the bones back in place.

So yeah...not a fun night. She is sleeping now, and Im hoping she stays that way. I have to stay up to give her pain meds at 1 and then I will try to sleep :(

  1. aw poor girl! I hope she is feeling better. Sounds like she was pretty brave throughout the whole thing though.
